More About Tune In For Child Safety
Part I can also be viewed on this web site—www.tuneinforchildsafety.org—or
by using the DVD in the training kit. Part II will be conducted
by the group child care center director. It consists of case studies
and activities to be used for training group child care center
staff about child abuse and maltreatment. This training will provide
two hours of training for group child care center staff. Both
parts must be completed to receive credit for the training.
View Part I of the training. First make copies of the affirmation
statement page and give it to all participants. Next, participants
will need to watch part one of the training. They can do this
with a group or independently. During Part I there will be several
audio codes, which will be heard. Participants need to write down
these audio codes on their Affirmation of Training Compliance
page and complete part one of the affirmation page. If these audio
codes are not written on the affirmation, participants will not
receive credit for this training. Also, the participant’s
name and address should be printed clearly on the statement. Collect
these affirmation forms, and register participants online. You
should keep them on file as well. Directors will then come to
the Tune In for Child Safety Training Web site to report participants
who have completed part one of the training. Click “Director
Log In/Report Trainees.”
- Enter your Daycare Center permit number and password.
Your password is included in the training kit. If you do not have
the password or training kit, please contact DOH at 212-676-2444.
- Enter in Names of Participants
- Enter in date of completion of Part I.
- Click the ADD button.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Participants will then come to Part II of the training, which
is led by the director. This Tune In for Child Safety training
manual and accompanying DVD have many components that can be used
to complete the next required hour of training. There are three
long case studies, three short case studies and three activities.
Each component has step-by-step instructions and times listed
for each case study and activity, as well as an approximate training
time allotted. Directions are listed in this training manual.
You can choose which components to use to create an hour of training
from the following:
- One long case study and one activity session; or
- Two short case studies.
Follow the step-by-step instructions in this training manual
to lead the activities.
After participants complete Part II of the training the director
will need to sign the Affirmation of Training, indicating the
participants have successfully completed Part II of the training.
Parts I and II must be completed within one month of each other
to receive credit for the training.
After you have signed the affirmation forms, you need to come
back to the Tune In for Child Safety Training Web site and complete
the participant report:
- Click on "Director Log In/Report
Trainees".
- Enter your Daycare Center permit number and password.
- Enter in the date of completion of Part II.
- Click the ADD button.
- Now is also the time to make any changes to the names of participants
who took the training—any additions or deletions of participants.
- Once you have completed these steps, certificates will be
generated and sent to each facility.
